Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start a game?
Tap “Host a Game”, enter your name, and share the six-character code with your friends. They enter it under “Join a Game”. You need at least two players, with at least one on each team.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts and no sign-in. You pick a display name for each game and that is all.
Can I play without an internet connection?
Yes. “Single Device” mode runs entirely on one phone — pass it around the group. Automatic name generation uses a built-in list when you are offline.
Someone entered an offensive name. What can I do?
Tap “Report this name” on the name card. The name is removed from the game immediately for everyone. If a player keeps causing problems, the host can remove them from the lobby using the “Remove” button next to their name — removed players cannot rejoin that game.
I got disconnected. Can I rejoin?
Yes. Reopen the app and enter the same game code. Your place, team and score are kept while the game is still running.
The game code says “not found”.
Game codes are six characters and are case-insensitive. Check for confusable characters and make sure the host has already created the game — codes only exist once someone has hosted with them.
How do I delete my data?
Game data is temporary and is discarded when the session ends. Your display name is stored only on your device; deleting the app removes it. See the privacy policy for details.

Community Guidelines

Name Game is meant to be played with friends and family. Names you add are shown to everyone else in your game, so:

  • Keep names appropriate for everyone in the room.
  • Do not submit content that is hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or targets a private individual.
  • Names that break these rules may be removed automatically, or reported and removed by other players.
  • Hosts may remove players who repeatedly break these guidelines.
